NEWS: NOMAS Magazine Releases its Crete Issue

NOMAS magazine’s Crete Edition

“I felt once more how simple and frugal a thing happiness is: a glass of wine, a roast chestnut, a wretched little brazier, the sound of the sea. Nothing else.”

Nikos Kazantzakis, Zorba the Greek

Known for its contemporary perception in the arts and travel culture industry, NOMAS magazine blends thoroughly curated and researched content from some of the most intriguing global artists, photographers, writers, and creative wanderers. NOMAS magazine announces its 16th issue centered on the enchanting tales and people of the island of Crete, Greece.

Crete, like many Greek islands, has its own complex history, mythological appeal, and unique inhabitants. Zeus, the god of the gods, was born there, the mythological craftsman Daedalus built his eponymous Labyrinth to hold the Minotaur in the city of Knossos, and the island is the backdrop of the famous book and film “Zorba the Greek.”

The team at NOMAS magazine brings these tales and mysteries to life in their latest edition. Focusing on the most western parts of the island - Chania, Lefka Ori, Balos, Milies and Rethymno - readers absorb the many records and legends that make Crete, Crete. From locals who shoot road-signs for practice, to family vendettas spanning generations, and love stories that seem untouched by time mimicking the story of Erotokritos and Aretousa, each page brings a captivating fantasy to the island.

The secrets of Crete are vast and touching. Through the lens of creatives Yannis Bournias, Filep Motwary, Stavros Kastrinakis and Manolis Mathiouthakis and with the elegance of Mirko Borche’s designs, the southernmost part of Europe is finally unraveled in all its unmatched glory.
